Why Share?
Aside from being told it’s the right thing to do, why do we ever decide to share something with someone else? I believe that Joseph Campbell, who summed up his philosophy in one sentence, was on the right track. He said, “Follow Your Bliss”.
Let’s say you’re driving down the road in your car and your all-time favorite song comes on the media player (“radio” for you old folks). You reach down and turn up the volume. You’re rocking out to your tune and you see some pedestrians. You realize that this song is bringing you so much bliss right now, that you want others to feel the same bliss. So you roll your windows down and maybe you turn it up just one more smidge so they can hear it well.
I believe that is the answer in a nutshell. We share because we want to make others as happy as we are, because nothing feels better than being extremely happy.
I want you to be in a state of awe and wonder. I want to spark your curiosity and add magic to your
life.
When children used to visit me as a kid, they’d ask, “What do you want to do?” And I always answered, “Hey, let’s make stuff!” I have never outgrown that desire to create which makes me so happy that I’m dying to share it with others.
That is why my lovely wife and I are creating workshops (playshops as my friend Jack so eloquently quipped) to help others learn the art of making things with found objects. That is why I implore folks to join us on social media, via email, and face to face. Because I feel so much bliss when I’m creating, that I want to share that bliss with others. I want to share all my trade secrets, tips, tricks, and techniques. They were discoveries that gave me great joy and if they might impart the same joy to you, I feel obliged to share them. I want you to be in a state of awe and wonder. I want to spark your curiosity and add magic to your life.
The Found & Altered School of Craft for Wayward Adults is our way of allowing you to become a kid again. Setting a fire in your heart, inspiring you to experiment, and giving you the tools to make you blissful. That is what we’re all about.
Want to learn what “playshops” are currently planned? Just click on the “Whats New” in the menu there at the top of our website. We’ll keep that page updated and keep you filled with opportunities to experience the camaraderie and the “getting into the zone” that comes from the blissful act of creating with a group of like-minded individuals.
Whether you consider yourself creative, or you just want a new adventure, these playshops are the place to practice following your bliss. We hope to see you at the next one!
